rvdirections

I was just ordering Street Atlas 2009 Plus with the LT40 receiver from DeLorme by phone as my 2006 version won't work with Vista and asked the guy about add-ons for things like Flying J and Walmart and he said the Discovery add-ons would work and were free. He also told me he had been to a RV trade show last week and saw the program rvdirections.com and he thought it looked pretty good.
Have any of you tried it and what do you think??

RE: A/C vs. Fan on A/C Unit

The refrigeration compressor that makes the cold is the part that takes the majority of the electrical power. You can use the fan with no problems.
I don't know what the heck the previous poster is talking about. The fan only setting is on the unit to be use.

RE: fuse box fan

That is a thermostatically controlled cooling fan for the converter. It does its own thing. Don't worry about it.

RE: Hose to Connect Baby Q grill to quick connect on MH

The quick disconnect IS low pressure. The Q IS high pressure. A deluxe extend-a-stay with the 12' hose for high pressure devices will do it. The extend-a-stay connector goes between the tank valve and the RV pressure regulator. I have that on my coach and use the 1 lb tanks anyway because they are handier.

RE: Onan Microlite 3600 lp resonator

You can add another muffler but you will probably find most of the noise is mechanical and cooling fan noise and has nothing to do with the exhaust.

If it smells of gas I wouldn't. If no smell it should be fine.

RE: How Long for Tranny Fluid to cool?

If your temp gauge is monitoring the fluid temp going to the cooler it can safely go to 280-300 for short periods (5 minutes) according to Allison. They recommend a TES-295 spec fluid (synthetic) for hard working transmissions.

RE: Cell Phone Booster

Prime is a good place to buy. We started out with a 3 watt amp and a RV/Trucker antenna and they worked pretty well although one place we go a lot we could not get a signal. Wilson tech support sent me a indoor flat panel antenna and on a telescopic pole about 8' above the coach roof it works great. It is directional.

RE: Replacing my Generator Propane Hose?

A place that makes up hydralic hoses can make up propane hoses. The hose is specific for propane. They will use pressed on fittings. Measure the length you need.

RE: reports of Gulf Stream from owners

We sure like ours we bought used last August. We moved up from a 27' class C. I just uprated my engine to 275RV specs-sweet.

RE: Who has solar

Yes I like it. I haven't had to run my generator the last three times out. Its not cheap. I have about $2200.00 invested.

RE: Replacing my Generator Propane Hose?

Are you talking about the big hose from the regulator to the carb? If so hose clamps are fine.

RE: Cat diesel overheating

The intercooler for my ISB Cummins looks like another radiator and is right in front of my radiator closest to the fan. The radiator is right behind it and is what I see when I lift the rear grille. Trace the tube that comes out of your turbocharger. It goes to your intercooler.

RE: Keeping warm in our motorhome

Just a comment on what Ajones said about the Safety Police and Buddy heaters not supposed to be used in confined spaces. That is very misleading. A Buddy Heater is certified for use in areas where people are. They have a oxygen depletion sensor that shuts them off if the level gets below safe limits. It has a tip over shut off. The instructions with the heaters define how big a area of fresh air opening is required. For a Buddy Heater it is a area equal to a 3" diameter circle. For a Big Buddy heater a 4" circle equivelent. I have both. We crack a roof vent a little and that meets the air requirement.
Heating living space is what they are made for and they do a great job.

RE: Built-in Generator

I haven't installed one but removed and reinstalled mine in our last RV. It has four bolts holding it to the bottom of the compartment. There are several holes that have to be cut into the bottom for air outlet from the engine and the generator, they are separate. another hole for the exhaust. Mine had bottom exhaust and there are two holes required for the muffler mounts-the muffler is bolted to the engine and has to have holes big enough through the bottom for the brackets to wiggle around on its soft mounts.
It is a good generator but it is pretty noisy. The engine runs at a constant 3750 RPM. The cooling fans make a very annoying whine.

RE: Keeping warm in our motorhome

We use our MH year around sometimes in below freezing temps and always boondocking. I have plumbed a high pressure propane hose from the main tank to the front of the coach at the top of the entry steps and have a Big Buddy heater connected to it. It does a great job of heating and is quiet unlike our furnace. Also cuts way down on battery recharge time. A roof vent cracked open less than a inch satisfies the fresh air requirement for the heater.
